David Homel
Author and Translator

With Great North, David Homel brings his prodigious narrative talent to the giant screen for the first time.

David is best known for his novels Electrical Storms, Rat Palms, Sonya & Jack and Get on Top, which have been published in several languages around the world.

A highly regarded translator, he won a Governor General's Award (Canada's most prestigious prize for literary translation) in 1995, and was nominated for another GG in 1998.

But David’s no stranger to filmmaking.

His work on Visions, a 13-part series on Canadian art and artists, won several prizes, including awards at the New York International Film and Television Festival, and the National Educational Film Festival.

David’s wide-ranging credits include radio documentaries about gospel and rock-and-roll for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and a stint as writer-in-residence at the University of Florida.
