Original Storyline

Ninety minutes after birth, Tuktu will be able to stand up alone; 48 hours later she will be strong enough to run a marathon, and only weeks after her birth, in mid-July, Tuktu will follow her mother's path and join the assembly of herds.

Along the way she will learn a painful lesson about flies - caribou can lose up to one litre, (35 UK or 34 US fluid ounces) of blood a day during this period.

Grouped in herds of up to 125,000 animals, the caribou huddle side by side in an attempt to reduce the stress of being bitten by the ravenous insects.

They'll move in unison up a mountain side, seeking comfort in the wind. The Inuit, who have lived with the caribou for thousands of years, said of these grand assemblies "there were so many caribou that the mountains moved."

Imagine seeing that on an IMAX®screen. Stunning.
